big boss man/little boss woman

today the owner of the company stopped by. he was just in the neighborhood with his buddy, wanted to get a drink. while he was waiting for his beverage he told me how nice the store looked and how he appreciated my furniture re-arrangements i had done.

bitchin'. :)

also! i'm doing two interviews tomorrow. these will be my third and fourth "cold" interview. as in first one, not me doing a second on someone. i'm looking up tips online right now. it's surprisingly difficult to find tips for the actual interviewer instead of the interviewee.

here are some tips i'm reading right now:

1. small talk to make them comfortable: i find this extremely amusing because i find small talk very UNcomfortable.
2. get a picture of past performance: well that's pretty much like all of the interview questions cc's wants me to ask.
3. find out how they feel about the job: i'm good at this part. no sugar-coating here. if you are incapable of saying "would you like a blueberry muffin to go with that?" you may leave the room at this point.
4. ask a random question: ascertaining personality i suppose. i don't know how i feel about this particular one.
5. ask THEM a question about the company: i like this one. instead of the hum-drum "any questions?" asking them "so what do you think about this store in comparison to the others in baton rouge?" may help me understand them a bit.

mainly i want them a. not to be an idiot and b. to be able to follow directions.
two basic parts of my job.

tomorrow i'm testing out a new way to do the end of the year inventory (which is actually next week). me and only one other manager are doing it, of course she actually knows what she is doing and i'm just following directions. but hey, it's something i'm pretty good at.
