New Shoes Yeah!

Today I was having lunch with my aunt and she slipped me a graduation present of a load of cash! Awesome! Now I don't have to save up to buy my shoes and can stop killing my feet with these old ones I have. Seriously though, I haven't bought new running shoes in six years so I'm pretty sure I was overdue for a new pair.

I ran today for a new long distance of a modest 3.2 miles. We did the short 1.7 loop twice and walked a good bit (so maybe it was actually more like 3 miles). Either way, it is an improvement. I also talked to the girl at the shoe store a lot about marathons - she ran her first this last year - and it got me really excited. I also learned that I have a normal arch in my foot (thanks mom and dad) and don't need too much extra support in my shoe.

I would say today was reality check number one about how hard this will actually be and I will stop counting at one. I'm giving myself until December and I think as long as I keep track of what I'm doing I will stay on track. I also need you reader(s) to keep me honest. If I haven't posted in a while ask me how the training is going. Part of having a blog is, for me, to have accountability and if I'm trying to tell a lot of people about this to keep myself going.

Still going strong!

New Shoes:

I might miss those starry shoe laces though..
